Support Sea

Did you know that St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School has one of the least expensive tuition rates in the region?  How is that possible you may ask?  The answer is that we rely on the generosity of our alumni, friends, and community partners to help us offset costs.  Consider becoming a benefactor today through one of our giving programs.

St. Joseph by-the-Sea Pillar Fund

In 1869, Sr. Mary Fitzgibbons, a Sister of Charity in New York City, heard a cry outside the door of the convent. When she opened the door, there was an abandoned baby which she immediately took in. Word spread that the sisters would care for these babies, and they were soon overwhelmed with “Foundlings” on their doorstep.

One morning as the sisters were praying the rosary on the Staten Island Ferry, a Catholic businessman, Charles Schwab, the CEO of Bethlehem Steel, was touched by their devotion. He approached them and offered to make a donation to their cause. His donation turned out to be his Staten Island summer Estate on the Raritan Bay.

The very first night the sisters moved into the new location they found a baby on their doorstep. The baby had a heartbreaking note attached to him: “Please name him Joseph.”

They indeed named him Joseph, and they named their new branch of the Foundling Home St. Joseph by-the-Sea.

In this, the year of St. Joseph, we remember that one of the titles of St. Joseph is Pillar of Families. We are establishing the Pillar Fund as our means of Annual Unrestricted Giving which will help make Catholic Education affordable for Sea Families.

Paver Program

Consider sponsoring a paver in our courtyard to ensure you remain a part of Sea’s history forever! Your custom inscription can be placed on a large or small paver stone and will be set in the heart of our campus.

Chairman’s Club

The Chairman’s Club was created to raise funds and foster camaraderie within the Sea Family.  To be considered for the Chairman’s Club, individuals or businesses must pledge $1,200 a year for four years for a total of $4,800 which will be matched dollar for dollar by Sea so that we can provide a student in need with a full scholarship.   Learn more and become a member of the club by clicking here.

Hall of Saints

The halls within our school feature over 100 beautiful portraits of Saints throughout the ages.  In addition to adding beauty to our building, these paintings offer a unique opportunity for benefactors to sponsor a Saint of their choosing and have a plaque placed on them.  For more information about our Hall of Saint please email alumni@josephsea.org
